In my four months here I worked on three client engagements:

• A business plan for a social enterprise that sought to aggregate unorganized garbage pickers and help them raise their incomes
• A project for a top-tier MFI to help it identify potential improvements in ground-level operations of a partnership with a solar product company
• An Investment Memorandum for a top-tier MFI to elicit investor interest and enable the MFI to raise equity for growth

In addition to improving my understanding of the Indian development sector and of microfinance, my work helped me gain an appreciation for the complexities involved in trying to build enterprises that balance for-profit motives with social objectives.

Intellecap also enabled me to spend time on the ground – I visited four MFI branches in two cities.

My co-workers and the culture at Intellecap were other key reasons for my positive experience. I now count the smart, helpful and friendly people here as good friends.

To put it simply: interesting work, good exposure, and fun people – these made my internship excellent.
