From Apr 9-11 2014, our initiative Sankalp Forum organized its annual Sankalp Unconvention Summit with 1,000 delegates from 422 organizations like Unilever, Bosch, Google, DFID UK, USAID and social enterprises like Kinaara Capital and Avani Bio.
It placed the spotlight on three pillars – social enterprises, investors and large corporates, with a theme to 'Explore Impact Through Business & Capital', and facilitated over 100 mentoring sessions, 120 outcome focused business meetings and 17 commitments from investors towards due diligences into social enterprises.
The Summit leveraged its power to bring together diverse development practitioners and industry players to round up over 100 speakers from around the world. In an unprecedented reverse pitch session, Sankalp invited Google, Bosch, Unilever and Cisco to pitch to social startups on why they should choose them as partners, which was extremely well received.
Other exciting offerings of the Summit included critical launches:
1) Launch of PRISM, StartupWave and Impact Investment Report: Intellecap launched three firsts for the Indian impact investment and social enterprise space in India. More details may be found here.
2) Simultaneous global launch of Deloitte's Report: Beyond the Pioneer was also launched at the Skoll World Forum a few hours after its debut at the Sankalp Unconvention Summit.
3) Launch of Impact Bangalore Report: A first of its kind report to study the impact investment space at a city level.
In addition, the Summit saw a Global Enterprise Showcase in which over 30 enterprises from India and Africa made elevator pitches. The winners of the Sankalp Awards were also announced here.
Sankalp announced that the 7th edition of its Summit would return in April 2015.
