Intellecap Impact Investment Network (I3N) is India's first angel network of high net worth individuals and institutional investors seeking investments in early stage enterprises in the Intellecap Focus Sectors.
Over 30 high net-worth individuals and institutions have become Members of I3N. In addition, I3N Membership was extended to a key partner, Toniic, a global impact investment network with over 40 members across US and UK.
I3N gives enterprises access to a varied group of investors that have a board range of investment preferences and appetites. I3N assists the companies through the entire transaction process, advising on business plan preparation, negotiations, due-diligence, and deal documentation. I3N also supports enterprises through their complete life-cycle by leveraging Intellecap resources to provide services such as incubation, debt, and Investment Banking Services for further capital raises.
Toniic members are looking forward to collaboration with I3N's members and to syndication of more global capital into India.
Currently, there is very limited access to pre-venture capital funding and capacity building for social enterprises in India. Enterprises often need small amounts of funding in the early stages of their growth and find it difficult to raise such funding from most institutional funds due to the high transaction costs and risk perceptions. In addition, access is extremely limited to mentors and intermediaries with the interest and expertise required to guide and advise such early stage enterprises.
In September 2011, Intellecap, with support from International Finance Corporation under the G-20 SME Challenge Awards, launched I3N to fill these gaps. I3N was established to build a strong community of experienced "angel" investors who can provide equity capital of up to USD 1 million in these very early stage companies. I3N leverages the Intellecap ecosystem to bring a rich and carefully vetted deal pipeline to its Members. These deals are showcased among Members on a regular basis, and I3N encourages and facilitates co-investments to reduce ticket sizes and risk for investors.
