Key Roles and Responsibilities

Transaction Execution:

Associates will be a part of a debt / structured finance advisory team and will be responsible for executing the transactions end- to- end with the team. This will involve:

• Prepare teasers, pitch books, information memorandum, management presentations, financial models and other deal related presentations & notes.
• Independently managing deal execution for debt transactions including investor reach out and pitches, negotiation of terms, working with third-party service providers like lawyers, valuers, due diligence agencies, etc, advise and finalization of definitive documents, closing, etc.
• Ability to market services both to internal partners and external clients, develop and maintain client networks across various sectors, and support client acquisition efforts
• Develop and maintain relationships with Wholesale lenders – Banks, NBFCs and Foreign lenders Conversant with handling corporate database and adherence to defined timelines for delivery

• Sound understanding of debt market and market terminologies.

• Work on several projects simultaneously with teams of professionals, both within the group and across the firm, collaborating to develop and execute solutions to meet client requirements.

Business Development:

Associates will have the additional responsibility to support respective sector leads in business development including:

• To research and analyze industry, economic, market, and regulatory data as required to support sector coverage activities
• Assist in preparing presentations / marketing materials for use in client coverage, other business development activities, conferences, etc.
• Meeting Clients/Investors and scheduling meeting of the senior management team with the potential Clients/Investors.
• Conduct and assist in organizing seminars, roadshows, conferences, workshops, and other business development activities.

Corporate Development:

Associates will also be jointly responsible with the rest of the team:

• Assisting team members with internal initiatives such as maintaining sector and investor databases, revenue / transaction milestone tracking, corporate presentations and business development materials, newsletters and company website.
• Support senior team members and clients in any other ancillary tasks from time to time as per requirements.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in similar profile, preferably a CA or MBA (Finance) from a premier institute.
• Should have handled Transaction Collaterals – Teaser/ Pitch Document, Information Memorandum, Financial Model, etc. – on its own
• Arriving at comparable transaction multiples – Precedent Transaction Multiples, Public Market Multiples; (Please add knowledge of valuation techniques – DCF to this)
• Having been part of closed private equity transactions is a plus;
• Knowledge of relevant regulations (FDI, SEBI, RBI, etc.), term sheets, and shareholder agreements are desirable.

About Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF)

Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF) is an industry-led initiative (seeded by and within Intellecap) and a common action platform with a purpose of accelerating the transition of fashion industry across the global south to become resource efficient (through decarbonizing the supply chain) and responsible (through creating green livelihoods) through adoption of a circular economy as a pathway. In line with this, CAIF’s mission is to build the ecosystem and capabilities to enable this transition and mainstreaming circular economy across the global south. While seeded by and within Intellecap, CAIF operates as an independent and neutral industry-led initiative through an industry facing governing structure comprising a Governance Council and Advisory Committee which includes global and regional leaders from organizations like UN Environment Program (UNEP), UNIDO, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., H&M, Marks and Spencer, Arvind Ltd. etc.

Purpose of the Role:

The CAIF team is driven by the mission to accelerate the transition of fashion industry across the global south to become planet positive and people positive through adoption of a circular economy as a pathway. To achieve this mission, the CAIF team engages with a diverse set of clients such as leading DFIs, large foundations, corporations and investors to develop and implement multi-year ecosystem level programs and interventions. To shape the global industry’s response to 2030 SDGs, CAIF’s efforts focus on - a. decarbonizing the off-shore manufacturing across global south, b. ensuring zero leakage of textiles waste into the environment, c. eliminating single-use plastics from fashion economy and d. creation of circular and green jobs across the global offshore manufacturing hubs.

Working with the CAIF team, this fast-paced and diverse role will require you to lead the conceptualization, development and execution of multi-year ecosystem level programs which are aligned to UN’s 2030 SDGs, CAIF’s strategic priorities and areas that can deliver tangible outcomes and impact for brands, manufacturers, SMEs, Innovators / Entrepreneurs, and formal / informal workers employed across the textiles and apparel value chain. These outcomes and impact areas are at the convergence of response to climate crisis, gender and green livelihoods, textiles waste, eliminating single-use plastics, energy, and water efficiency, amongst others. You will also actively contribute to shaping and achieving CAIF’s long-term strategic and sustainability roadmap.

Core responsibilities as Manager, CAIF

Stakeholder Engagement and Strategic Planning:

• Textiles and apparel stakeholder mapping and managing a database of such private and public sector stakeholders incl. brands, manufacturers, innovators, ecosystem enablers, industry associations / bodies etc. in the global south (South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Africa).
• Own, build and nurture key relationships with strategic partners
• Develop an up-to date knowledge and insights into their needs, gaps, and challenges to address (at an organization level)
• Actively work to build and nurture CAIF’s partner network.
• Contribute to the development of CAIF’s mid to long-term roadmap that will help CAIF take a market-leading position in enabling the transition of the industry to a circular economy.

Business Development:

• Identify and lead response to relevant tenders and RFPs (Request For Proposals) – defined and structured response to opportunities from DFIs and / or Philanthropic Foundations.
• Help identify and conceptualize multi-year ecosystem level programs in areas of CAIF’s focus
• Multi-year ecosystem level programs at the intersection of climate action, waste management, circular economy, gender, green or circular jobs in the context of the textile & apparel industry in the global south
• Meet agreed and assigned business development targets and KPIs

Execution & Delivery:

• Lead the planning and management of end-to-end execution of projects by 2-3 member teams
• Lead secondary and primary research (quantitative and qualitative) and analysis as a part of project delivery for insight generation
• Apply appropriate research, consulting and design thinking tools and methodologies for project execution and insight generation
• Lead and manage project / program’s stakeholders and partners
• Lead monitoring and evaluation of projects and impact delivered
• Lead preparation and submission of high quality project deliverables in a timely manner

• Represent CAIF at Sankalp, Intellecap’s flagship event, as well external platforms, events and conferences to strengthen CAIF’s brand profile

• Actively contribute to setting performance goals and KPIs for junior team members

Qualifications & Experience

• Postgraduate / Master’s degree or equivalent from reputed institutions
• Minimum of 9-12 years of past experience in circular economy, design thinking, business consulting, development sector research and consulting, inclusive business models, program management, or related/equivalent domains
• Past experience in working on programs and engagements for clients like DFIs like IFC/World Bank, USAID, JICA etc. and/or large foundations like BMGF, Laudes Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation etc. is highly desirable
• Past experience in engaging with corporates as a part of public-private-partnership programs will be an asset
• Prior experience on projects associated with the Fashion/Textile & Apparel sector is desirable but not mandatory
• 3-5 years of experience in managing teams

Purpose of the Role:

Working with the CAIF team, this fast-paced and diverse role will require you to contribute to the conceptualization, development and execution of multi-year ecosystem level programs which are aligned to UN’s 2030 SDGs, CAIF’s strategic priorities and areas that can deliver tangible outcomes and impact for brands, manufacturers, SMEs, innovators / entrepreneurs, and formal / informal workers employed across the textiles and apparel value chain. Core responsibilities as Senior Associate, CAIF:

Stakeholder Engagement and Strategic Planning:

• Textiles and apparel stakeholder mapping and managing a database of such private and public sector stakeholders incl. brands, manufacturers, innovators, ecosystem enablers, industry associations / bodies etc. in the global south (South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Africa).
• Contribute to building and nurturing key relationships with strategic partners.
• Develop an up-to date knowledge and insights into their needs, gaps, and challenges to address (at an organization level)

The Role Annually we organise two flagship summits – Global Summit (October/November); & Africa Summit (March) that bring together between 1200-1500 stakeholders from the Sankalp Community. In addition, to this we host Sankalp Dialogues, which are smaller scale convenings which are typically structured around particular themes or stakeholders. We also host the CAIF Conclave; a Private Equity Conference “Rendezvous”; as well as other initiatives such as #WomenAtSankalp. Specifically, we are looking for someone who can support business development and client management related to the Global Summit, Sankalp Dialogues and sector specific conclaves. This would include building a pipeline of potential sponsor opportunities, exploring revenue opportunities beyond the summits, as well as exploring expanding the Sankalp Forum property in other Geographies or as a franchise. The role would also require someone who can implement events and manage the operations related to the execution of events. Annually we organize two flagship summits – Global Summit (October/November); & Africa Summit (March) that bring together between 1200-1500 stakeholders from the Sankalp Community. In addition, to this we host Sankalp Dialogues and Regional Summits, which are smaller scale convenings which are typically structured around particular themes or stakeholders. The Senior Associate plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between strategic development and hands-on execution within the Sankalp framework. As an analytical thinker, they are entrusted with innovating new engagement initiatives, enhancing the existing frameworks, and driving impactful interactions within the Sankalp community. Their expertise lies in assisting in business development, from drafting compelling proposals to building and nurturing essential relationships.

Organized, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator, the Senior Associate efficiently oversees aspects of the Sankalp Awards process, from selection to post-event engagements. Their financial acumen enables them to provide critical insights on business models and financial projections, ensuring the highest quality of pitches from participants.

• Collaborate with the team in designing new initiatives and opportunities, Sankalp Community engagement strategy; ensuring a comprehensive approach to unlock significant value to the community stakeholders and the organization

• Work alongside the team of associates and analysts to refine and expand Sankalp’s Enterprise and Investor engagements viz., Deal Rooms, Entrepreneur Scholarships, and Investor meets, etc.

2. Business Development Support:

The selected candidate will be assigned to the Sankalp Forum team, which organizes the Sankalp Forum; one of the world’s largest inclusive development platforms which has since its inception grown from strength to strength both in brand name and convening power during its annual summits on 4 continents. In the past years, with sole focus on getting the ecosystem to congregate and deliberate on development issues, and entrepreneurship agenda, Sankalp has built a reputation for itself and therefore a recall for the brand. Sankalp Forum was initiated in India in 2009 by Intellecap, part of the Aavishkaar Group, to create a thriving ecosystem for business-led inclusive development. Over the past 13 years, Sankalp has built one of the world's largest impact enterprise focused platforms that has showcased and discovered 2000+ entrepreneurs, through 25 editions and have connected them to over 300+ investors. Sankalp has enabled enterprises and entrepreneurs and helped them raise over USD $290 million in funding through engaging with investors, and with governments, corporations, influential platforms like the World Economic Forum, G8 and G20, media and civil society to drive a paradigm shift in inclusive development approaches

Specifically, we are looking for someone who can support business development and client management related to the Global Summit, Sankalp Dialogues and sector specific conclaves. This would include building a pipeline of potential sponsor opportunities, exploring revenue opportunities beyond the summits, as well as exploring expanding the Sankalp Forum property in other Geographies or as a franchise. The role would also require someone who can implement events and manage the operations related to the execution of events. This role requires extremely strong written communication skills, interpersonal skills of dealing with multilaterals, international foundations, corporate clients, and governments. Structured thinking with strong logistical skills, and strong verbal communication skills in English are a requirement. This is role is best suited for an independent thinker, who has an entrepreneurial mindset and can take ownership of revenue targets and build a property in the impact ecosystem. A macro level thinker who understands the role of ecosystems is highly desired.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• A degree from a reputable university in international development, international relations, law, statistics, engineering or any business related course will be an added advantage
• 8+ years of experience working in strategic planning, business development, fundraising or similar field in a corporate, consulting / investment environment or with an international development agency or social enterprise
• Ability to use MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) and Dropbox
• Exposure working with large scale events, sponsorship packages, and multiple stakeholders is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a strong pipeline of potential multi-year sponsors & clients for the Sankalp Global Summit along with the current Sankalp management team, and Intellecap ecosystem teams
• Build & execute a strategy for the Sankalp Dialogues property to be revenue generating & create engagement with the Sankalp community year round
• Manage the CAIF Conclave sponsorship along with the ecosystem team
• Support strategic thinking around increasing revenue for Sankalp through entering new geographies, franchising, & other potential models
• Support communications & content creation for Sankalp along with the Marketing & Communications team
• Help draft, design, and prepare Sankalp-related proposals
• Support in maintenance and building out of the database of Sankalp attendees/applicants/investors over the years Build and maintain internal & external relations with platforms such as the World Economic Forum, World Bank, IFC, Ford Foundation etc
• Follow-up and monitor progress after the event
