Amélie Desjardins
Amélie joins us as Principal with the Business Consulting and Research team in Intellecap. She will be based out of our Nairobi office.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Law from The University of Montreal and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Laval in Canada.
Amélie brings extensive experience in providing consulting services in strategic market penetration and sustainable business growth, human rights and organizational analysis for North American, European, Asian and African corporate companies, non-profits, governments, and consultancy agencies and firms.
Prior to joining us, she was working with Thomson Reuters Foundation as Asia Pacific Manager. Before this, she co-founded Moto Energy Solutions, a social enterprise based in Rwanda, that aimed to provide access to connectivity in the East African corridor. Following MES’ merger with East African Power (EAP), a clean and renewable energy developer, she led the legal due diligence for the strategic acquisition of hydropower (>40 MW in Malawi, Rwanda) and solar projects (>260 MW in the DRC, Uganda) in the region (portfolio >30M$). Amélie also ensured the roles of Head of Office for the Hong Kong SAR branch of Justice Without Borders, of in-house legal counsel for a global provider of gaming technology, and she worked in operations management for the most active seed-funding VC firm in Canada. Amélie also worked in the public sector in France, co-owned a brick and mortar business in the F&B sector in the UK, worked in business development in the automotive industry in India, and volunteered full-time in a NGO working in women’s rights, refugees and migrants in Costa Rica. Having lived between Hong Kong, Kigali, Bangkok and now Nairobi since 2017, she is proud to dedicate her time towards driving social change through economic development and sustainable growth projects in Asia and in Africa.
